Welcome to the Paramount EMS Academy EMT Education Program offered in partnership with Loras College. Through our partnership we are committed to serving the needs of our community by developing competent entry level EMS Professionals.

Admission Requirements

Prior to the start of the Program (Eligibility for EMT Training):

  • Students enrolling in the Program must be at least 17 years of age prior to the first day of class.

  • Be able to speak, write, and read English.

  • Submit a completed Paramount EMS Academy application for admission.

  • Applicants will be invited and required to attend an interview with the Program Director and/or faculty representation. This interview helps staff/faculty to predict academic and professional success.

  • Applicants may be required to take preparatory coursework, participate in a program/course interview with program/course staff/faculty or satisfy a minimum placement test score prior to entering the program/course.

  • Paramount EMS Academy reserves the right to evaluate requests for admission and to refuse admission to applicants when considered to be in the best interest of the Educational Institution.

  • Once all requirements have been satisfied, qualified applicants will be considered for acceptance to the program/course on a first-come, first-served basis. The program/course has limited enrollment, so applicants are advised to apply well in advance of the course they wish to enroll in.

  • Basic Life Support CPR Certification - Evidence of completed CPR training must be uploaded to CastleBranch prior to the deadline as noted in the course calendar. CPR (American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) or American Red Cross CPR for Healthcare Providers). No other card will be accepted.

  • Students must complete training for mandatory report of child and dependent adult abuse prior to the start of clinical/field experience. These documents must be uploaded to CastleBranch.

  • Students must submit to a background check including a nationwide criminal history search and child, dependent, adult and sex offender registry checks prior to the start of clinical/field experience.

Computer & Technical Requirements:

  • It is required to have regular access to a dependable computer with online access. Students will be required to have their own computers for exams, quizzes, and documentation of lab and clinical/field skills.

  • The Paramount EMS Academy utilizes JB Learning (www.jblearning.com). Many of the documents found on the course site are Adobe (PDF) files and the free reader can be found at http://get.adobe.com/reader.
